The History of the Southall Church of God is indeed a challenging and encouraging one. It shows that over the past 20 years, God has been building His Church. We are thankful to God for His faithfulness. The Lord has said in His Word that, "I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Truly! the Lord has honoured His Word! Praise and Glory be to His wonderful name! The establishment of the Southall Church of God began with the arrival of Pastor George Alexander and his wife Sophia, from the USA. Pastor Alexander had a burden on his heart for the people in Southall. He felt the call of God to work, particularly amongst the Asian Community. During his time in Southall, he worked steadfastly to proclaim the Gospel to the people in the area. The first meeting took place on Sunday 20th October 1983 in the Southall Town Hall. Although, there were only a few people, it was the beginning of a new era for this type of ministry in this vicinity. During their time in Southall, Pastor Alexander and his wife were also blessed with a beautiful daughter, Athena. After working faithfully in Southall, in June 1985, Pastor Alexander returned to the USA, with his family to continue with his studies. The Church of God World Missions approached Pastor Joe Kurian and his family, concerning taking over the work in Southall. After seeking God diligently, Pastor Kurian accepted this great challenge and arrived with his family. He himself had a call from God to work amongst the Asian Community in this vicinity. Sunday afternoon meetings continued to be held at the Southall Town Hall. Other meetings such as, the Malayalam fellowship and prayer meetings were held in various homes. There were very few members in the Church, at that time. On 27 June 1986, the Church held their first Evangelistic meeting. This was a great achievement for the Southall Church of God. 50 people attended this special meeting. Support was received from the former General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Rev. Aaron Morgan. Subsequently, Evangelistic meetings were held on a frequent basis. 1987 was indeed a special occasion for the Southall Church of God. The inauguration of this Church took place. The ceremony was conducted by the European Superintendent, Rev. Douglas Leroy. The National Overseer, Rev. S.E. Arnold also attended this special occasion. The Southall Church of God was now fully established. Because of the increase in membership, there was a great need for the Church to have their own Church building. This would enable all the activities to be held in one place. This was greatly needed in order to promote the growth of the Church and to spread the Gospel throughout Southall. In April 1988, the Church moved to the AUEW Hall, Woodlands Road, Southall. By that time, services such as Youth meetings, prayer meetings, bible studies, Choir practices, street witnessing, Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi services were in full operation. The Church knew that God was preparing them for the tasks ahead. Later on in the year, the Sunday morning service was transferred to the Seventh day Adventist Church in Southall. the facilities available were adequate, because it had sufficient room to cater for the growth of the Church. The morning services were held there only for four weeks, before returning to the AUEW Hall. In 1991, the Church moved to the Shackleton Hall, in Southall. The morning service was conducted in this hall. The Shackleton Hall is situated in a centralised area. The the Church moved to the Kings Hall Methodist Church and later on in 1996 to the Ramgarhia Hall. By the beginning of 2002, the Church has moved to 9 Norwood Road Southall (Evangelical Church). The membership and adherents of the Church exceeds 150. The Southall Church of God is a branch of the New Testament Church of God in England and Wales. It is Pentecostal/Holiness in doctrine and practice and is also a member of the Evangelical Church. It is a Church with an international flavour. The Southall Church is renowned for its warm, loving family sprit and fellowship, without any prejudice.
